Gallaugher and his students spend several weeks each year visiting with, and attending master-class sessions hosted by, technology executives, entrepreneurs, and venture capitalists in San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Seattle, Boston, New York, and Ghana.

The chapters were formatted in a consistent manner. Why do technology markets often evolve into winner-take-all or winner take-most scenarios? The logical, consistent divisions of the chapters facilitated navigation. Examples illustrating the concepts discussed are consistently boxed in. This is easily understood if we consider the fact that most of the information systems being discussed in textbook have originated in the US.
