I cannot say how much I loath this app and its sister app on my Mac. The reason that I give it a two and why I say that Dropbox sync mostly works is that when you are offline don’t do any journal entries. I like the macjournal for my MacBook well enough, and have used it for years. Macjkurnal is the most polished of all the journaling apps around. And MacJournal is appealing not as a blogging solution, but as a database solution for maintaing multiple journals with optional encryption and password protection. I don’t like using Simplenote as many will tell me to do for such radical means, which is its own whitespace amcjournal for short bursts of random prose.

Just like the desktop application, MacJournal gives you the ability to create journals and smart journals via the edit button. I would give it minus stars if that were allowed. I try to copy-paste something into an entry, then tag it and it crashes, losing everything. That program can destroy data with abandon, including MacJournal data. Definately Not user friendly app.

Just keep the MacJournal backup preference enabled so you have backup copies of your file in the event of some unexpected problem. This is very nearly my ideal go-to app for all kinds of notes and rtf files and for keeping them organized and synced.

It started out a buggy, crap app and remains very much so in the latest version. I have lost a month’s worth of critical data. I cannot stress enough not to buy this app. Lpad One does not have this problem. At the root of MacJournal, you’ll have the option to view all of your journals by date, but it’s not entirely useful. I reviewed a previous version some time last year.

I have lost all my data more than once. I would not recommend this app.

I would rate this a 3 except for one thing. Fortunately, all my entries are intact on my desktop version. I love that I can specify different types of journals and make sub journals. The offline editing does not work at best and at worst it will lose entries from your journal. MacJournal for iOS is a lot like that too — the perfect blend of technology and individualism.

It has good interface with one exception.

Well, I’m stuck with this thing on my iPad but you don’t have to be. If you don’t you risk losing data.
